FOAMGLAS® Insulation Solutions by Application

Steam

Because steam applications are often buried underground, and not always in trenches, they require an insulation system with high compressive strength. The insulation must stand up not only to the force of the earth that surrounds it, but, also, to the force of traffic above it. Additionally, these systems are often exposed to groundwater that threatens to destroy its thermal efficiency.

Steam applications typically involve piping, vessels and equipment for the transport and return of heated water and/or steam. When steam applications are housed above ground, the insulation system must also serve as personnel protection against burns.

FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation provides high compressive strength. Additionally, because it is 100% glass and completely closed-celled, it is impermeable to moisture. FOAMGLAS® Insulation is the choice for steam applications.
