Q. What FOAMGLAS® Insulation block sizes are available?
A. FOAMGLAS® Insulation comes in 24" x 18" block and is available in various thicknesses ranging from 1½" to 6" in half-inch increments.

Q. Can I get 1" thick pipe insulation?
A. One inch thick pipe insulation can be made available. Usually, this is limited to pipe sizes no greater than 6".

Q. What is the R Factor per inch of FOAMGLAS® Insulation?
A. Generally, the thermal properties of FOAMGLAS® Insulation are reported as thermal conductivity (k Factor) which is 0.29 Btu-in/hr·ft2·°F @ 75°F. The R Factor per inch is the reciprocal of the k Factor, or 3.45/in.

Q. Why does FOAMGLAS® Insulation smell?
A. The rotten-egg smell that comes as FOAMGLAS® Insulation cells are crushed is from the small percentage (2% to 3%) of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) which makes up a portion of the cell gases, the largest portion of which is carbon dioxide (CO2). Q. Why is FOAMGLAS® Insulation black?
A. One of the many ingredients used in the manufacture of FOAMGLAS® Insulation is carbon. FOAMGLAS® Insulation gets its color from the unreacted portion of this ingredient which is fused to the glass.
