Success Story Summary

Hercules Chooses FOAMGLAS® for Critical Temperature Protection

Hercules, Inc. manufactures PICCO® synthetic resins used in more than 100 industrial and manufacturing applications. The process used to convert crude resins into a variety of synthetics utilizes heat exchanger units to reach critical temperatures approaching 600°F. When hot oils are absorbed or “wicked” by insulation, hazardous fires and facility shutdowns can occur. Hercules engineers specified the Laminated FOAMGLAS® H/T Insulation System to meet the intense operating conditions and the company's critical insulation requirements. Exterior portions of the hot oil pipeline, insulated with laminated FOAMGLAS® Insulation and jacketed with aluminum, resist weather conditions while maintaining acceptable temperature fluctuations from hot oil heater to exchangers. Only FOAMGLAS® Insulation provides the combination of noncombustibility, impermeability, high strength and constant insulation efficiency that Hercules required.
