Energy Surveys
Pittsburgh Corning provides an Energy Survey service to assist in the planning for plant turnarounds and also identifies deteriorating insulation systems. It helps to determine payback periods for reinsulated systems, which can be as quick as two years or less in many cases. Energy surveys or audits are being used effectively by leading chemical manufacturers as well as those in other industries.
Energy surveys evaluate the performance of existing thermal insulation on piping and equipment with operating temperatures that range from cryogenic to 900°F. They are conducted on-site. Check with Pittsburgh Corning to arrange an energy survey.
Results of an Energy Survey can include:
- Energy savings
- Emissions reduction
- Improved personnel protection
- Condensation-ice control
- Reduced insurance costs
These surveys can also provide information on energy savings if uninsulated piping and equipment were to be insulated.
Energy surveys consist of:
- Reviewing facility design drawings
- Review of insulation specifications
- Conversations with facility personnel
- Heat flow measurements
- Observations
Reports are issued that list the data collected from heat flow measurements then compares that measured data to computer generated data for new insulation and shows energy savings if the measured piping and equipment were to be reinsulated.
